Chennai: The ongoing hassle against the Chidambaram (SC) Member of Parliament and the VCK's leader Thol. Thirumavalavan began after a purpoted video showed him making some remarks against women hood. Allegations sparked saying that he spoke ill of women while citing Manusmriti, a perceived anti-feminist ancient code of conduct. But the VCK leader denied denigrating women and insisted he was working for their emancipation.
Apparently, BJP leader Khushbu Sundar had hit out at Thirumavalavan and said women cannot be objectified and accused the MP of "using religion" against them. She had also said that the women's wing of the party had organised for a protest in Chidambaram- the consituency of Thirumavalan demanding an apology. The protest was decided to be held on October 27, Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Khushbu was arrested near Muttukadu in ECR, by the local SP Sundaravadhanam and team, as the actress has violated prohibitory order to conduct the un-lawul assembly, owing to the lockdown rules prevailing in the State. Khushbu was enroute to Chidambaram to participate in the protest rally against VCK's Thirumavalavan.
The actress had also tweeted "Cowards #VCK. Dont rejoice. Its your failure. Arrested bcoz they know we are a force to reckon with. We will not bow down. @BJP4India @narendramodi Ji shall take every step to ensure the respectability of every daughter of this soil.Darpoks VCK, respecting a woman is alien to you"
She also came down heavily on the Tamilnadu Government and the BJP ally, AIADMK, condemning the arrest.
"When your journey is cut short by force, you know you are on right track. I question @AIADMKOfficial n #CM of TN @EPSTamilNadu avl, why we are denied of our democratic right for a peaceful protest when other parties are given the permission to do the same? Why this partiality?" "Or is @AIADMKOfficial govt aware that #VCK is capable of riots and goondaism and they fear the same?"
While the users on micro-blogging site Twitter debated the issue, with some supporting him and others criticising the MP, the party has organised state wide protests demanding a ban on the ancient Hindu text.
