SOMERSET — During Lent, the Friday Kitchen hosted by the St. John of God parish Knights of Columbus was a big hit. Volunteers were so inspired by the success of the Parish Dinner to Go and the Harvest Fair Food to Go events, that they are reopening the Friday Kitchen on Nov. 6 and Dec. 4.

Expect clam cakes and chowder, fish and chips, baked scrod, and shrimp Mozambique at the first sale. More information will be available soon about the December menu.

Dinners must be preordered by calling 508-678-5139 between 12 and 5 p.m. Orders will also be accepted via email at sjogkofc@gmail.com.

All orders must be placed by Thursday, Nov. 5, for the first dinner. Meals will be picked up in the church hall. There will be also be a raffle at the Friday Kitchen and the Cash Calendar raffles will also be available.

Looking for a special dessert? St. John of God Thanksgiving Pies to Go order forms will be available at the Friday Kitchen event, at Masses and at the rectory. Select from three options: apple, blueberry or pumpkin. Pies will be 9 inches and will cost $15 each. All orders must be prepaid. Pick up for pies on Nov. 21 after Masses inside the parish hall. All orders must be placed by Nov. 13.

Another new opportunity is the St. John of God Parish Cash Calendar Raffle. This will provide a chance for participants to win $1,075.

“This is a new and fun fundraiser for the parish,” the Rev. Jason Brilhante said. “To participate, please donate $25 for a Cash Calendar Raffle. There are 31 chances to win a prize, every day of the month of January 2021.”
