Knowing what went on behind the scenes of writing the book underlines just how special it is to its creator. The lockdown prompted the author to pen this piece, a project she had shelved for a long time. John tells Vogue, “I've always wanted to write a book and I decided to go for it. We had so much fun as a family as we'd discuss the characters and plots over dinner. They became very much a part of the storytelling. I've written while baking, cleaning, and sometimes at meal times!"

Following the journey of the undaunted four—Penny, Jack, Lucy, and Ethan—The Hunters' Trap is the story of their world, moving into a gripping plot when three hunters skilfully trap and separate a mother elephant from her baby. It’s now up to the four kids to reunite them and set them back into the wild. John puts forth the essence of her story, “Wildlife is a big part of the book. I was hoping to transport children into the amazing world of animals while also gently touching on poaching and the helpless plight of these innocent creatures. I hope every child takes away the message that wild animals belong in their natural home in the wild.”
