Odisha reports 1480 new covid cases, 14 deaths

Bhubaneswar, Oct 26 (UNI) As many as 1480 people were detected covid positive during the last 24 hours in Odisha pushing the cumulative Covid-19 tally in the state to 2,82,695.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to coronavirus touched 1259 as 14 more patients succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, the State Health and Family Welfare Department sources here said.

Information and Public Relations department sources said out of the fresh 1480 covid positive cases while 858 were from various quarantine centres 622 are local contacts.

Out of the 30 districts, only four districts have reported a surge of more than 100 COVID positive new cases during the last 24 hours.

Angul district reported the highest number of 141 covid positive cases followed by Mayurbhanja (113), Khurda (110) and Cuttack (106).

Of the new 14 deaths Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Keonjhar and Bhubaneswar reported two deaths each and Sambalpur, Ganjam, Bargarh, and Khurdha reported one death each.

On Sunday 2071 COVID positive patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals were cured and discharged from hospitals.

The number of recovery of Covid positive cases in Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak,Malkangiri,Koraput, Ganjam,Nabarangpur,Boudh,Nayagarha, Deogarh, Rayagada and Gajapati was less than 50.

With the recovery of 2071 cases, the total recovery cases in the state went up to 2,64,102

Official sources said so far 4354956 cumulative tests were conducted in the state while 282695 were tested positive, 264102 have already been recovered. The state has now 17,281 positive cases.
