The top army commander will take stock of the battle preparations in Ladakh and the surrounding areas on Monday, amid continuing tension along the Line of Actual Control with China in eastern Ladakh. The four-day review meeting to be chaired by Army Chief Manoj Mukund Narwane will also discuss internal reforms in the Army.
According to sources, there will be an overall discussion on security challenges before the country in the meeting. Also, the situation in East Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir will be reviewed. The army chief will take stock of the battle preparations in eastern Ladakh. The situation in East Ladakh has remained tense since the May standoff with Chinese troops on the LAC. Over 50 thousand soldiers of both countries are deployed on LAC.
The meeting will further consider cutting formal practices and non-military activities to ensure the rational distribution of resources. The meeting will be attended by all military commanders, Chief Staff Officers of Army Headquarters, and other senior officers.
Rajnath, Rawat will address tomorrow
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, CDS General Bipin Rawat, and Naval Chief Admiral Karambir Singh will address the meeting on Tuesday. According to sources, the meeting will discuss matters related to human resource management in the army on Monday, while various agenda points presented by the commanders will be discussed on Wednesday.
Discussion on cuts in an army day program
According to sources, the meeting will also discuss the cut in the program of Army Day and the Regional Army Day Parade. There will be a discussion on closing the parade or reducing its form.
Apart from this, talks will also be held on reducing the number of Officers Mess at Peace Stations. At the same time, there will be a churn on reducing security guards at the houses of senior officers. Also, all units will be asked to cut the expenses for Raging Day and Battle Honor Day.
