Stock market update: Nifty Auto index down 2%; Hero MotoCorp dips 4%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Auto index was trading with losses at 12:10PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of Hero MotoCorp (down 4.05 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 3.53 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 2.93 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 2.67 per cent) and TVS Motor Company (down 2.59 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.5 per cent) and MRF (up 0.06 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 1.83 per cent down at 7946.65 around 12:10PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 109.90 points at 11820.45, while the BSE Sensex was down 364.63 points at 40320.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, Vedanta and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd., Century Plyboards , MCX India, Havells India and APL Apollo Tube hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Maheshwari Logistics Ltd. and WABCO India Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
