AAP MLA demands strict action against SGPC employees involved in assault on Sikh activists

Amritsar, Oct 25 (UNI) AAP MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan has urged Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib to take strict action against the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) employees for their alleged involvement in the misappropriation of 328 Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib and holding the protestors captive, injuring many.
Mr Sandhwan made the remark during his visit to Civil Hospital Amritsar to meet the injured.

The Kotkapura legislator said that the reckless attitude and violent behaviour of the SGPC officials towards the protesters and the media fraternity is an insult to the entire Sikh community. SGPC which was meant to be the organisation that took care of the Sikh community’s interests is now being controlled by Akali Dal under the patronage of Parkash Singh Badal and his son who are using the prestigious Sikh organization for political and financial gains.

Kultar Singh Sandhwan appealed to the Sikh community that the anti-Sikh face of Badal family stands exposed world over, time has come to liberate the apex religious body of Sikhs from the clutches of Badal & Co by electing genuine people who have intentions to serve the Sikh community in the upcoming SGPC elections.

State Joint Secretary Ashok Talwar, District Secretary Iqbal Singh Bhullar, Parminder Singh Sethi President (Amritsar-Urban) along with senior leaders were also present on the occasion.
At least 15 people were injured when a clash between the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee task force and members of some Sikh organisations protesting over the missing Guru Granth Sahib ‘saroops’ episode turned violent in the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar on Saturday.
The incident took place when task force tried to evict the protesters staging an indefinite sit-in in front the SGPC headquarters, Teja Singh Samundri Hall. Many of those leading the protest were held captive inside the SGPC office and thrashed by the task force personnel.

BJP knows it is doomed: Nath

Bhopal, Oct 25 (UNI) The resignation of Damoh lawmaker Rahul Singh – who subsequently entered Madhya Pradesh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party ranks on Sunday – triggered a ‘general assault’ on the saffron camp by Congress state President Kamal Nath who claimed that the BJP has gauged how disastrous the November 10 (Assembly by-election counting day) outcome will be for it.
“Its lust for power, writhing and jitteriness is clearly visible. The BJP does not repose faith in democracy, the mandate and morality. By-polls are being ceaselessly imposed on the state. I again appeal to the masses to come forward for safeguarding the republic and the Constitution,” the erstwhile chief minister conveyed via social media.
