NEW DELHI: As Delhi University released the third cutoff list on Saturday, there were still seats left for various courses in the popular colleges. The drop in the cutoff, however, ranges between just 0.25 and 2 percentage points. Unlike previous years, many courses are still available for admission at Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR), Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Miranda House and Sri Venkateswara College.
At LSR, the cutoff is 99% and above for Political Science (H), Psychology (H) and Journalism (H) courses. Similarly at SRCC, Economics (H) and BCom (H) are still open for admissions with 98.75% and 98.12% cutoff. Seats for BCom (H) are no longer left at Hansraj and Kamala Nehru colleges.
Out of the 45 colleges, which offer political science (H), admission to the course is closed in 28 of them. The course is, however, still up for grabs at LSR, Ramjas and Indraprastha College for women.
Admission to History (H) is closed in most of the colleges. Out of the 43 colleges, which offer the course, 30 have closed the admissions. The course is, however, still available in LSR, Miranda House and Ramjas colleges. According to the university, in the first and second rounds, over 52,000 students took admission. There are approximately 70,000 seats in 61 colleges of DU.
Due to withdrawals, some colleges have also re-opened admissions to certain courses. PGDAV has opened admissions for Economics (H) and Sri Venkateswara for BCom (H) and Chemistry. This time, the off-campus colleges got their seats filled fast. At Dyal Singh College, most of the courses are closed for the general category. Even Kamala Nehru has closed admissions for most of the courses.
Among the science subjects, seats in physics are closed in several colleges. The drop in the cutoff percentage ranges between 0.33 to 1 percentage point in the remaining ones.
