Maha Govt's relief to rain-hit farmers not satisfactory: Shiv Sena MP

Palghar, Oct 24 (UNI) Shiv Sena MP from Palghar, Rajendra Gavit, on Saturday expressed his displeasure over the relief announced by the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government for the rain-hit farmers, saying the relief was not satisfactory.
Speaking at the 38th anniversary of the Shramajivi Sanghatana -- an organisation that is working for the uplift of tribals at Usgaon, he said that even as the district was facing issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic, the recent unseasonal rainfall has destroyed most of the crops of the farmers and as a result, they have incurred very heavy losses.
He further said that the state government's Rs 10,000 crore relief announced for the rain-hit farmers was not satisfactory and asked all the farmers to get insurance for their crops in order to cover losses due to any eventuality.
The Sanghatana founder Vivek Pandit also spoke on the occasion and asked the rulers to provide the basic rights to the villagers by August 2022.
President of the Sanghatana Rambhau Varna also addressed the meeting.
