Asked to return gold jewellery, man blackmails wife
Crime

A 33-year-old woman from Naranpura has lodged a complaint against her estranged husband for blackmailing her with photographs of their intimate moments and pressurising her to withdraw a case filed in the family court. As per the complaint, Anita works as a sales coordinator with a private company. She and Dhruv got married in 2018. This was Dhruv's second marriage. After marriage, with her consent, he pawned the 10 tola gold that her father had given her at the time of marriage as he wanted to start a travel business. He later availed a loan of Rs 8.5 lakh in her name. Last year, he told her that since they were from the same community, they could not be married. He asked her to go to her parents' place for around 15 days and assured her that he would bring her back. Later, his driver dropped off Anita's clothes and other belongings at her house and Dhruv made it clear that he wanted to separate from her. When attempts by her parents to reunite them failed, it was decided that the couple would separate. In January this year, Anita filed a petition in the family court stating that she would separate from Dhruv only if he repaid the loan taken in her name and returned the 10 tola jewellery given by her father.

Anita claimed that when Dhruv got to know about this, he sent her a few photographs of their intimate moments and threatened to make them viral if she did not withdraw her petition.
