J&K reports 532 new Covid cases, 8 deaths

Jammu, Oct 25 (UNI) As many as 532 fresh coronavirus cases surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, with recording 177 cases in Jammu division and 355 in Kashmir division, according to government data.
With this, the total number of positive cases in the union territory went up to 91,861.
It also reported eight more deaths from the contagion; 3 from Jammu and 5 from Kashmir.
Moreover, 639 more COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 263 from Jammu division and 376 from Kashmir division.
According to the daily media bulletin on the novel coronavirus, out of 91,861 positive cases reported so far in the UT, currently 7,565 are Active Positive, 82,858 have recovered and 1,438 have died; 478 in Jammu division and 960 in Kashmir division.
The bulletin further said that out of 21,75,682 test results available, 20,83,821 samples have tested negative till October 25.
Till date 6,41,369 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 18,154 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 7,565 in isolation and 47,328 in home surveillance.
Besides, 5,66,884 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Bhopal, Oct 25 (UNI) The resignation of Damoh lawmaker Rahul Singh – who subsequently entered Madhya Pradesh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party ranks on Sunday – triggered a ‘general assault’ on the saffron camp by Congress state President Kamal Nath who claimed that the BJP has gauged how disastrous the November 10 (Assembly by-election counting day) outcome will be for it.
“Its lust for power, writhing and jitteriness is clearly visible. The BJP does not repose faith in democracy, the mandate and morality. By-polls are being ceaselessly imposed on the state. I again appeal to the masses to come forward for safeguarding the republic and the Constitution,” the erstwhile chief minister conveyed via social media.
