Covid-19: Gujarat records 1,021 positive cases, six deaths

AHMEDABAD: The daily tally of Gujarat again took a dip with 1,021 Covid-19 positive cases in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Saturday. It was after four days that the tally went below 1,100 daily cases. Earlier, the cases went below 1,100 after seven days of 1,100 to 1,200 cases, reveal the analysis.
The new cases included 237 from Surat, 177 from Ahmedabad, 117 from Vadodara, and 103 from Rajkot. The four districts accounted for the 62% of daily tally. The cumulative cases in Vadodara crossed 15,000 as cases in Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot reached 41,366, 35,247 and 12,162 respectively.
The state recorded deaths of six positive patients, taking the death toll to 3,682. The deaths included three from Surat, two from Ahmedabad and one from Gandhinagar. The toll in these three districts reached 1,887, 833 and 90 respectively. It was the eighth day for the state to record below 10 daily deaths of Covid-19 patients, averaging eight deaths compared to average 10 for October.
A total of 1,013 patients got discharged in 24 hours, taking the total to 1.48 lakh. The discharges include 257 from Surat, 133 from Ahmedabad, 126 from Vadodara and 111 from Rajkot.
With the update, the number of active patients in Gujarat reached 13,987. The share of active, discharged and deceased patients reached 8.4%, 89.4% and 2.2% respectively.
Gujarat in 24 hours carried out 52,980 tests, taking the total to 56.91 lakh. As on Saturday evening, Gujarat had 5.28 lakh persons under quarantine.
