After tasting success with their ‘Books By Weight’ concept, MR Book Centre has set up a book sale at Madhapur, adjoining DMART store. Novels, books, biographies, history of both fiction and non-fiction — you name it and the exhibition-cum-sale has books under those genres on display. They also have a variety of genres including fashion, cookery and general interest which are on sale at a starting price as cheap as Rs 50.

With the ever-increasing demand for electronic book-reading on gadgets and smartphones, the market for paperback books has been gradually dwindling. “Many books got stacked during the entire lockdown and the sale too didn’t pick up even after we opened the business.

We have to pay money to publishers. So we came up with the idea of book sales — one at Madhapur, and another one at Nacharam near SPAR Hypermarket will start from November 1,” says Mohammad Abrar, purchasing manager at MR Book Centre.

The book sale is open until December-end. “Many book lovers have switched over digitally. Reading habit too has come down. The sale would surely attract them again. The objective behind this rapid sale is to bring the book lovers back. We have good coffee-table collections, apart from regular sections.

We are trying to push new arrivals for low prices. We want to give advantage to customers providing enough time to get into the details before picking them up,” added Abrar.
