COIMBATORE: A Coimbatore woman, who fell off a two-wheeler with her husband, failed to realize that she had been bitten by a snake. She took the bite mark for one of the small injuries she had suffered in the fall, and this turned fatal for her.
The deceased has been identified as T Kavitha, 38, of Pappan Kadu near Sulur.
On October 21 night, Kavitha and her husband, Thangaraj, were returning home from their powerloom unit on a motorcycle. Thangaraj, who was riding the motorcycle, noticed a snake crossing the road near Kadampadi and lost control of the vehicle. They fell on the snake. The snake bit the woman on her hand. However, she didn’t realize that it as a snakebite.
The next day, Kavitha felt pain on her hand. She was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where doctors confirmed it as a snakebite. The woman died without responding to treatment on Friday afternoon. A postmortem was performed.
The Sulur police registered a case.
