Covid norms and rain prevents crowd during Durga puja in Tripura

Agartala, Oct 24 (UNI) Besides, restrictions for pandal hoppers due to Covid-19 pandemic during Durga puja festival persistent rain for the last two days across Tripura has prevented the crowd on the street and pandals. However, the administration made arrangements to check the gathering in front of pandals.
“We are happy that puja organizers have complied with all the guidelines especially holding puja in open pandals and kept the view open from different angles. The organizers of puja in Agartala clubs have made sanitizer available for all and face mask free for puja hoppers who come without masks,” said Sub Divisional Magistrate Sadar Asim Saha.
All the restaurants and food outlets were advised to maintain safety norms while serving people. Apart from that adequate number of
security forces have been deployed in all the crowd-pulling locations to ensure the physical distance of the pandal hoppers and devotees, he stated.
“So far, we noticed that by and large, the devotees have been maintaining Covid-19 guidelines when coming out from home in the last two days. The civil society volunteers have involved themselves willingly on the streets and distributing masks and awarding people about Covid safety along with administration,” Saha added.
Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall for the remaining two days of 'Durga puja across the state and night temperature would drop due to late monsoon rainfall to double depression in the Bay of Bengal.
