Gurugram: Night patrolling to check open burning of waste

City’s air quality index was recorded in the poor category on Thursday
GURUGRAM: The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) on Thursday decided to start night patrolling in the city to check the reasons for the rising pollution levels. As per the pollution board, with temperature dipping the air quality index is likely to worsen.

On Thursday, the air quality index (AQI) recorded in the city was 215 (poor), slightly better than the previous day’s 263 (poor), according to the daily bulletin of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). “We have been monitoring the situation 24X7. Six teams will be conducting patrolling the city at night to ensure that the Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority (EPCA) guidelines are being followed properly. We are closely monitoring open areas to check waste burning,” said Kuldeep Singh, HSPCB regional officer.
“A number of factors trigger the rise in pollutants in the atmosphere. They are weather conditions, open burning of waste, wind speed, construction activities, among ,” he added.
