Royal Challengers Bangalore, on not being able to bag Pat Cummins, went ahead and roped in South Africa pacer Chris Morris for a whopping Rs 10 crore in the IPL 2020 auction, which held on December 19 last year. With 9 wickets in 5 wickets, with best figures of 4/26, averaging 11.11 with an economy rate of 5, Morris has been the X-factor for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2020.

Morris has only batted in 1 innings so far, against KXIP on October 15, wherein he blasted an unbeaten 25 runs off 8 balls including 3 sixes and a boundary in Sharjah. Sure he has a three-fold role in RCB and Morris doesn’t mind that for himself as he believes in taking up challenges in the sport.

“I think I am in a blessed position, to be honest. I always said I want to be in high-pressure situations where you will get tested as a cricketer. What more do you want? I have been fortunate. I haven't been smacked really yet but that's going to come. That's the nature of the sport. I want to keep continuing with the clarity I have. Bounce-back ability is important. You can get hit for sixes, but you have look at the next ball,” said Morris in a press conference.

With 7 wins in 10 games, Virat Kohli’s RCB are now placed at No.2 in the IPL 2020 points table, just behind Delhi Capitals. Morris has credited the team management that makes things easier of the captain.

“Virat has been very good. A lot of people don't see is that there's a lot of work that gets done behind the scene. We have got an analyst and he does a lot of job and the bowling coach analyses the stuff, our batting coach analyses as well. A lot of stuff happens just for the game. All of them together, Virat and the senior cricketers together, we are quite clear with our plans. Once you are clear with all your plans, it's easier for Virat to captain,” Morris said about the RCB think tank.

“To play under Virat has been really good. The biggest learning for me, playing under him is he expects excellence, he expects to work hard because he puts the work in. He exudes the energy, he just wants to win all the time. He wants to get into the game, that's infectious. That's what his attitude to the team apart from his performances.”
