Due to better run rate MI have claimed top spot in the IPL table while DC are at second and RCB third.
For CSK losing their 8th game from 11 matches their hopes for play-offs are very dim.
Chasing target MI openers Q de Kock and Ishan Kishan put up 116 runs partnerships for first wicket without losing a wicket taking MI to big win.
Ishan Kishan 68 off 37 balls included 6 fours and 5 sixes while de Kock 46 off 37 balls (5 fours and 2 sixes) remained not out.
It was de Kock who striked four in 12.2 over in Thakur's spell finishing the game for his team.
MI are now one win away from their play-off berth. Earlier, MI won the toss and opted to bowl.
CSK from the very start of the game started losing wickets with opener Ruturaj Gaikwad lbw by Boult for a duck in the first over.
Then wickets kept falling at regular intervals in form of Ambati Rayudu (2) and Narayan Jagadeesan (0) in 2nd over, Faf du Plessis (1) in 3rd over, Jadeja (7) in 6th over, skipper MS Dhoni 16 off 16 balls (2 fours, 1 six), Deepak Chahar (0), Shardul Thakur (11) in 15th over.
But it was Curran's heroics who came with his fifty in 19.5 over hitting Boult for a four and 43 run partnerships between Tahir and Curran for ninth wicket stretching CSK score to 114.
CSK lost its 8th wicket inside 71 runs. But CSK lost its ninth wicket in form of Curran bowled by Boult in the last ball of the last over.
MS Dhoni and Jadeja contributed 18 runs for fifth wicket stand while Thakur and Curran came with valuable 28 runs for 8th wicket. Imran Tahir 13 off 10 balls with 2 fours remained not out.
For MI wicket-takers were Boult 4/18, Rahul Chahar 2/22, Bumrah 2/25 and Coulter-Nile 1/25.
