These concealers will have your back against pigmentation or redness in just a few strokes or taps
If there's any makeup product that serves as a true multi-tasker, it's your stick, tub or pot of concealer. It'll cover up dark circles if you haven't slept the previous night, buff away a painful red breakout or mask fine lines with a couple of strokes. It can help you fake eight hours of sleep almost immediately, making it a must-have when you're busy, tired and stressed out like you might be now. But while it's the best makeup product to have on hand, it's also one of the most trickiest to apply. If you apply it with a heavy hand, it can cause exaggerated creasing. If you have the wrong shade, it can look too light or too ashy. It may need trial and error, especially if you're not sure about the right texture, colour and product you'll need to cover you zits or dark circles.
If you're not sure what kind you need, pick based on what you need to cover up the most. If you have fine lines or creases you want to cover, liquid concealer may be your best bet. It offers buildable coverage and is less likely to cake up, making it a long-wear pick. Some may have a subtle shimmer, which adds a soft glow to the the areas you want to draw light to. For covering up pigmentation under the eyes, cream concealer (with a thicker texture) can provide heavy coverage that'll make you look bright and refreshed. For zits, a stick concealer is best as it would have a semi-solid texture that are super compact for touching up your skin without slip-sliding too much.
When you've picked the product you love, knowing how to apply it is key too. “Whatever you choose to use, never apply concealer in long strokes because you tend to take off more product as opposed to applying on your skin, and then end up adding more because it doesn’t feel like enough. A dabbing motion is very important, whichever area you’re applying it on. Warm the product by rubbing it between two fingers and then dab it on your face with your ring finger—it’s the best way to do it," confirms celebrity makeup artist Arti Nayar.
