Despite several rounds of military and diplomatic talks between India and China, tension remains on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Meanwhile, India said on Thursday that the immediate task is to ensure the full withdrawal of troops from all areas of the dispute.

External Affairs Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said that India and China are continuing negotiations to resolve the situation arising on the LAC through diplomatic and military channels. The process is based on the agreement reached in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries held in Moscow on 10 September.

He said that contact with China would be maintained on the border issue. He said that both countries have reiterated their desire to continue dialogue and dialogue through military and diplomatic channels. Both countries want to arrive at an acceptable solution for the withdrawal of troops at the earliest. We will keep in touch with the Chinese side and share it with everyone if there is some fraud.

The 19th meeting of the Executive Mechanism for coordination and consultation on Indo-China border matters was held on 30 September while on 12 October the 7th round of talks between the senior military commanders of the two countries was held.

In view of the winter, the Indian security forces are preparing themselves for long deployment and are working on improving the infrastructure along the New Delhi border.
