KURUKSHETRA: The Kurukshetra district court of additional and sessions judge (ASJ) Amit Kumar Garg convicted two accused in a case of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and sentenced 15 years of imprisonment to them along with fine of Rs 2 lakh each on Thursday, told district deputy attorney (DDA) Gopal.
DDA Gopal said the court convicted two brothers Arjun Singh alias Garv and Devpushp Kumar of Malhupura in Mujjaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
He said that on April 21, 2018, the Kurukshetra district police had recovered 1400 vials of Buprenorphine Omgesic 2 ML injection, 240 vials of Pentazocine Lactate Fortwin 1ML injection, 600 vials of Pentazocine Lactate Pentalab 1 ML injection from their possession being smuggled on a two-wheeler near Sector 2/3 turn on National Highway (NH) 44 in the area of Thanesar Sadar police station.
“Both were arrested after registering a case against them under Section 22 (punishment for contravention in relation to psychotropic substances) of the NDPS Act at Thanesar Sadar on April 21, 2018. A challan was produced against the accused and the court of ASJ Amit Kumar Garg on the basis of evidence, convicted them”, said DDA Gopal.
He added that they have been sentenced to imprisonment of 15 years along with a fine of Rs 2 lakh each and in default of fine payment, they will have to undergo additional imprisonment of 6 months each.
