Imphal, Oct 23 (UNI) Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had an extensive discussion about
the present COVID-19 situation of the State with RIMS authority, doctors and nurses
at RIMS Jubilee Hall, Lamphelpat today.
Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, Advisor to CM (Health) Dr. Sapam
Ranjan, RIMS Director Prof. A. Santa, RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof. Ch. Arunkumar,
doctors and representatives from nurses also took part in the discussion.
Mr Biren Singh appreciated the doctors, nurses and other para-medical staff for their
relentless dedication to duty at this time of difficult situation.
Like soldiers fight in the borders to protect the country’s sovereignty, the Chief Minister
said, doctors, nurses and para-medical staff are also fighting in the frontline to effectively
tackle the deadly virus.
He said that the main purpose of his interaction with doctors and nurses was to identify
the prime reason for increase in the number of casualty in the past few days.
The chief minister also sought suggestions from doctors to check this rise.
Mr Biren said, as experts are predicting that the pandemic may peak in December or
January in Manipur as well, the State must be prepared for it from now.
He asked the RIMS authority to find a way to increase the number of COVID-19 beds
having ventilators.
Stating that he would soon apprise the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
about the urgent need to increase the number of COVID-19 beds in the hospital, he
asked the RIMS authority to begin the process of engagement for manpower
requirement and purchase equipments with the funds in hand in this regard.
