The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday posed five questions to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on behalf of Goans pertaining to the plan of the government “to convert Goa into a coal hub”, further asking him to provide answers to these questions.
AAP asked why Goans were not taken into confidence before allowing double tracking project. It further asked the government to spell out the benefits of this project to Goans.
Furthermore, AAP inquired if the Chief Minister, along with his family, would be willing to stay near the tracks to suffer the consequences of
coal transport.
Interim state convenor of AAP Rahul Mhambre and several AAP volunteers were detained on Wednesday by the police for protesting outside the official residence of the Chief Minister, for agitating against the plan of the government to “convert Goa into a coal hub”.
Spokesperson of the state unit of AAP Surel Tilve addressing a press conference in the city slammed the state government for not taking people into confidence while declaring three major projects in Mollem.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party is getting new projects but they do not want to discuss it with people because these projects are advantageous to the central government,” he alleged.
Tilve also reckoned that people of Goa have fought many battles in the past and have made huge sacrifices to preserve Goan identity and culture. “We Goans will not let that go in vain,” he added, pointing out that Goa is for Goans, not for any firm.
AAP also said that now neither the BJP nor the Congress, but only Goans will decide the future
of Goa.
