Denied ticket, Congress’Pardeep Sangwan goes back to BJP

ROHTAK: Congress rebel Pardeep Sangwan of Sonipat, who was seeking a party ticket for the Baroda bypoll, joined the BJP at Rohtak on Thursday in the presence of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Pardeep, son of three-time MP, late Kishan Singh Sangwan, a stalwart BJP leader, switched to the Congress in 2014 after BJP denied him a ticket.
Pardeep hails from Nooran Khera village under Baroda assembly segment. CM Khattar described Sangwan’s entry into the BJP as a “homecoming” and predicted a BJP victory in the Baroda bypoll.
The state BJP also held a meeting of its core members, including MPs, ministers and other senior leaders. Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the core committee meeting, Khattar claimed that caste discrimination has gone down under the BJP and the party is trying to put an end to caste politics. On being asked to field candidates by political parties based on caste, Khattar said parties choose candidates based on caste under public pressure.
“BJP has set an example and is not falling for caste politics,” he claimed.
