Aurangabad/Mumbai, Oct 23 (UNI) Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeary put their best foot forward on Thursday to woo USA's e-automobile major Tesla for rolling out their futuristic offerings in the premier state of India.
The duo Ministers held a webinar with the Tesla Global Director Rohan Patel and discussed about setting up a manufacturing base as well as a R&D facility based in Maharashtra.
Minister Desai cited the recently announced Industrial policy of Maharashtra and stated that it laid a special emphasis on non-polluting e-vehicles of the variety manufactured by the Tesla.
He noted that this provided a 'golden opportunity' for the firm to invest big in Maharashtra that would accord it a customized red carpet treatment along with commensurate basic infrastructure facilities and special incentives to make a foray in the Indian automotive industry.
He further said the state government was bullish on futuristic technology that emphasised non-polluting alternatives to conventional applications and had decided upon a course, which moving forward would offer the likes of Tesla, an unenviable business advantage.
While, Minister Thackeray affirmed that e-vehicles would prove a boon to improving the quality of life and health, particularly in high vehicular density metropolises like Mumbai as the commensurate benefits of pollution free vehicles would be tangible, visible and adopted.
A customized foothold in the Indian automobile sector with special incentives could be instantly availed of by Tesla through an investment in the manufacturing and research and development facilities, the duo Ministers emphasised.
Mr Patel and his colleague Dr Sachin Seth were enthusiastic about a foray into the Maharashtra automobile sector, which according to them was a large marketplace for their e-automobile offerings.
The webinar was also attended by Principal Secretary (Urban Development Dept) Bhushan Gagrani, Principal Secretary (Industry) Venugopal Reddy, MIDC CEO P Anbalgan and the Industries Development Commissioner Harshadeep Kamble.
