RMC to intensify sanitation work during festive season

Ranchi: In an emergency meeting, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Wednesday decided to intensify sanitation and cleanliness drive around Durga puja pandals.
RMC Mayor Asha Lakra said, “A detailed plan to ensure cleanliness and hygiene during Durga Puja was discussed. The RMC would undertake frequent spraying, fogging and cleanliness work around the pandals with the aim to curb Covid-19 pandemic.”
She said carrying out cleanliness drive around the ponds in view of Chhat and Diwali was also discussed. Lakra added that during the meeting, ward members sought additional manpower, vehicles and JCB machines to carry out the sanitation drive during the festive period.
RMC town commissioner Mukesh Kumar said that several other issues, such as open drains, water logging in Harihar Singh Colony, water harvesting in buildings, holding taxes and encroachment in Kanke dam, were raised in the meeting by the ward members.
He said, “We have also decided to hold RMC’s standing committee meeting in the first week and the board meeting in the last week of every month.”
Till Wednesday afternoon, Ranchi district had 24,494 Covid-19 cases, of which 2,085 are active.
