Three gardens have ticketed entry
Amdavadis no longer need to stand in a queue to buy tickets to enter Sabarmati Riverfront Garden. As part of its Smart City Project , Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has started an online ticket booking facility for visitors.
Usually, when visitors turn up at the garden for theannual Flower Show , a kilometre-long queue is witnessed outside the ticket counter. Sometimes, the rush is so heavy that the counter has to be closed. Now, citizens can book the tickets online and produce the QR Code on their cellphones to enter the garden. Tickets are required to enter five gardens, three of which charge Rs 10 and the remaining two charge Rs 20.
This facility will make visits to the garden a smooth and a pleasant experience for families during the weekend. Gradually, an online booking facility will be made available by the AMC for all the gardens, lakes and other amenities.
Nitin Sangwan said, "Looking at the heavy rush during the Flower Show last year, we had thought of introducing online tickets. We started work on the same and have now introduced online tickets for the riverfront garden. Soon, it will be available for AMC-run gardens and lakefronts."
Bharat Desai, who often visits Sabarmati Riverfront Garden, said, "Usually, when we visit on Sundays, we witness a long queue and heavy rush. With contactless ticket booking in place, we can now avoid the queue during times ofcoronavirus ."
