Used no off-putting against VS Speaker: Cheema

Chandigarh, Oct 21 (UNI) On the last day of the special Vidhan Sabha session on Wednesday, Leader of the Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema clarified that he had used no off-putting language against the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, saying it was a mere political propaganda to malign his image.

In a statement issued from party headquarters, Harpal Singh Cheema said that at a juncture when party MLA Aman Arora was not given time to speak on the Punjab State Vigilance Commission Bill by the Speaker, he (Cheema) simply asked the Speaker not treat the august House akin to 'Congress Bhawan' by acting as spokesperson of the Congress party, which was by no means a tantamount to abusive or derogatory by any standards.
He openly challenged that the speaker had the live recording of the proceedings of the House in his possession to prove me (Cheema) wrong and using false and frivolous allegations of resorting to objectionable language against him.
Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that the Speaker did not play an impartial role during the proceedings, adding that disallowing press coverage from the Assembly press gallery, smacked of an attack on the freedom of the press. He added that the live telecast of the proceedings had nothing to show about the Opposition party.
Earlier, Harpal Singh Cheema and Jai Krihan Singh Rouri demanded that Bazigar and Gujjar communities may also be given ownership rights in the state.
The AAP leaders also vehemently opposed the clean chit given to tainted minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, embroiled in a multi-crore post-matric scholarship scam.

Bhopal, Oct 21 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra claimed on Wednesday that – irrespective of whether or not Congress state President Kamal Nath tenders an apology to Minister Imarti Devi – the Gwalior-Chambal electorate shall teach him a bitter lesson on November 3, which is voting day.
“That region’s populace will never tolerate insult of a lady during this festival that worships Shakti. Now, even erstwhile chief minister Digvijaya Singh is hinting at a ‘farewell’ to Mr Nath as the latter is ceaselessly disregarding his party’s apex leadership. The Congress sun is setting,” the senior politician conveyed via social media.
