Odisha covid tally surges to 2,76,094, toll at 1196, recovery rate 92.32 pc

Bhubaneswar, Oct 22 (UNI) Odisha registered 92.32 percent recovery as 2,54,913 covid patients of the total 2,76,094 were cured and discharged from the hospital.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours 1913 new covid cases and 15 covid deaths were reported taking the covid tally in the state to 2,76,094 and 1196 deaths.
With the recovery of 2716 people on Wednesday, the total recovery in the state surged to 2,54,913.The active cases stand at 19,932.
Sources said out of 1913 new cases,1109 were reported from the quarantine centres and 804 as local contact cases.
Only three districts out of 30 reported covid positive cases more than one hundred with Khordha registering the highest number of 254 cases followed by Cuttack(150) and Angul (106).
On the other hand nine districts reported covid deaths during the past 24 hours.
Out of 15 new covid deaths reported in the past 24 hours,Mayurbhanj and Angul reported three each followed by two in Khordha and Dhenkanal and one each in rest five districts.
Sources said so far 41,99,508 tests were conducted in the state and only 6.57 percent reported covid positive while the rest 93.43 percent as negative.
Six top districts such as Khordha,Ganjam, Cuttack,Puri, Balasore and Sundargarh have together reported about 61.28 percent of the total covid deaths and 45.12 percent of covid positive cases.
While Khordha district registered the highest number of 46,992 covid positive cases,Ganjam district topped in the covid toll with 225 deaths.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through a Video Conference yesterday reviewed Covid management in the State and conveyed best wishes to Covid Warriors and their family members on the occasion of Dussehra.
Mr.Patnaik said the Covid infection is declining continuously due to hard labour of Covid Warriors and the effort of departments concerned.
He further said although total number of testing has been above 40 Lakhs in the State and number of recovered persons has crossed 2.5 Lakh, there is no place of complacency.
The Chief Minister appealed to the people to remain more cautious in view of the ensuing winter season and to strictly follow Covid protocol.
He further advised to focus on treatment of patients with co-morbidities and directed to undertake a massive Covid awareness drive.
