Listen to Gordon Murray's T.50 Supercar Start Up for the First Time

If you haven't heard of the Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) T.50 supercar by now, allow us to enlighten you about some of the specs. The T.50 is the approximately 2,200-pound, V-12 powered, rear-wheel-driven, manual sifting supercar that's here to shame your Ferrari 488 Pista—and we don't mean that ironically, in any way.

The entire car is a feast for car nerds (like us), but the Cosworth engine is undoubtedly the centerpiece here, and thanks to GMA's YouTube channel, we finally get to hear it start up for the very first time. Granted, it's in a pre-production state of tune, and there isn't too much revving going on. That might sound like a disappointment, but you can just think of this as an appetizer before the 12,100 rpm full course is served.

Gordon Murray is the brain behind the McLaren F1, a car some would dare say is the greatest automobile ever made. The T.50 is not only an homage to it, but a perfected version of the F1. Its65-degree V-12 Cosworth engine displaces less than 4.0 liters,  and pumps out 654 hp at a screaming 11,500 rpm. It's paired to a 48-volt mild hybrid system that adds another 49 horsepower in the car's VMax mode, where GMA says it will top out at well over 200 mph.

Even crazier than all of that, the little V-12 doesn't make its peak 344 lb-ft of torque until 9,000 rpm. For reference, the Porsche 911 GT3 was lauded for its 9,000 rpm redline. It's safe to say this thing is going to scream like a banshee when it reaches its 12,100 rpm redline. Just 100 of these very special engines are being made, and for the $3 million asking price, GMA is throwing in the whole rest of the car for free! Not sure about you, but that sounds like one heck of a bargain.
