Former minister Kiran Pal Singh joins BJP with supporters

Bulandshahr, Oct 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh's prominent Jat leader and former Basic Education Minister in the Mulayam Singh Yadav government Kiran Pal Singh on Thursday joined the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) along with many of his supporters.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and UP BJP's state president Swatantra Dev Singh got Mr Kiran Pal to assume the membership of the party.
Prof Kiran Pal, a result of the Jayprakash Narayan movement and a staunch follower of Chaudhary Charan Singh, first became an MLA after winning the Agauta Assembly seat in 1980. He has been elected an MLA five times from this seat. He had been a Cabinet Minister in the Mulayam Singh Yadav government. He had been politically inactive.
Prof Kiran Pal, who is among the prominent leaders in Bulandshahr, had contested his last election on a Lok Dal ticket in 2012 from the Shikarpur seat where he had to face defeat from SP's Mukesh Pandit.
He joined the BJP in the presence of UP CM Yogi Adityanath and party's state president Swatantra Dev Singh in the electoral meeting organised in support of BJP candidate Usha Sirohi in the Numaish ground. His joining the BJP is expected to change the equations in the politics of the district.

Bhopal, Oct 22 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday reiterated his demand that Congress President Sonia Gandhi initiate action against her party’s state President, erstwhile central minister and former chief minister Kamal Nath for his objectionable remark against a lady minister.
“I have already dispatched a communication to Mrs Gandhi in this regard. However, it is yet to elicit a response. I made it abundantly clear that if she does not furnish a reply it shall be construed that the Congress supremo concurs with Mr Nath’s words. In fact, the Election Commission has sought an explanation from him. Mrs Gandhi is a mother, sister and daughter therefore must take measures against Mr Nath,” the senior politician told members of the Fourth Estate in the state capital prior to continuing on the Assembly by-poll campaign trail.
