Hyderabad, Oct 21 (UNI) Continuing the spike, Telangana recorded 1,579 new coronavirus positive cases in the past 24 hours taking the cumulative number of cases in the state to 2,26,124 till date.
The overall COVID-19 deaths in the state has risen to 1,287 with five more people succumbing to the deadly virus till 2000 hours on Tuesday night with a case fatality rate of 0.56 per cent while the National average was 1.5 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Wednesday.
More than 1,800 patients had recovered from Coronavirus between Monday and Tuesday pushing the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,04,388 translating into a recovery rate of 90.38 per cent as against the countrywide recovery rate of 88.8 per cent.
In all, 41,475 samples were examined to detect the virus during the last 24 hours and out of which the reports of 1,120 swab samples were awaited.
The number of active cases in the state now stood at 20,449, the bulletin said.
More than 39.40 lakh COVID-19 tests had been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the pandemic.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits remained the top contributor of the infection cases by recording a maximum of 256 positive cases followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district (135), Khammam district (106) and Ranga Reddy district (102).
The remaining new cases were reported by other districts, the bulletin added.
