The Indian markets started Wednesday's session on a firm footing, up over half a per cent, in line with positive cues from their Asian peers.
Among the headline indices, the S&P BSE Sensex gained 380 points, or 0.96 per cent, to 40,930 level and the Nifty50 index reclaimed the psychological 12,000-mark. IndusInd Bank (up 2%), HDFC, Axis Bank, State Bank of India, and Larsen & Toubro (all up 1%) were the top Sensex gainers.
All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green, led by Nifty Bank index, up 1.2 per cent.
