Yediyurappa assures suitable compensation to flood affected

Bengaluru, Oct 21(UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday assured that after the aerial survey of the flood affected areas, necessary steps will be taken to provide adequate compensation to those affected in the north Karnataka districts.

Speaking to media persons before leaving for Kalburgi in a special air force helicopter to undertake the aerial survey, he said that since the last three months people have been affected by floods and heavy rains. He said that the State government is committed to providing relief to those affected by the floods.

Since the last five days the floods have created a grim situation in the north Karnataka districts besides damaging the crops, properties and rendering hundreds of people homeless. Agriculture lands are submerged in many areas. The army has been pressed into service and they have shifted the affected to safer places.

He said that people in the state capital Bengaluru were also by the heavy rains which has been lashing the city for the last four days affecting the normal life. He instructed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials to take all necessary steps.

After the aerial survey the Chief Minister is expected to visit New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek more funds for taking up relief works.
