Apple launched the new iPhone 12 series of products a few days ago, and since then we've been getting a steady stream of updates about some of the details about the phones that Apple had not previously shared.
Earlier, it was information about the amount of RAM found on the iPhone 12 series of phones, and now, there's a more specific reveal about the battery pack hidden inside the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The information comes courtesy of China's TENAA agency, which in a listing has revealed information about the device.
As per the listing, Apple's biggest iPhone for the year has a capacity of 3,687mAh, which appears to be 282 mAh smaller than last year's iPhone 11 Pro Max which came with a 3,969mAh battery. The listing also confirms that the iPhone 12 gets 6GB RAM, something which had been confirmed by previous AnTuTu and Geekbench listings.
However, despite the smaller battery packs underneath the surface, Apple claims similar battery life to last year's iPhone 11 series of phones. This is because of the power-efficient 5nm A14 chipset, which brings in significant gains in energy saving.
Apple claims the A14 Bionic brings in serious gains to the iPhone 12 series. As such, when compared to the iPhone 11 series, the chipset helps ensure that the new iPhone offers better performance per core for single as well as multi-threaded applications, even as it consumes less energy per core while doing so.
As per the information currently available on Apple's website, all four iPhones come with built-in batteries using the rechargeable lithiumion technology. Of the four phones launched this year, the iPhone 12 Pro Max offers the best battery life, with the phone rated to provide up to 20 hours of video playback with the content on the phone and 12 hours of runtime when content is streamed online.
In comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro offers a 17-hour video playback for videos on the device, with streaming content claimed to deplete the phone in about 11 hours. The two phones also offer audio playback of 80 and 65 hours respectively. Interestingly, the iPhone 12 also offers the same battery performance as the iPhone 12 Pro, as it promises the same video and audio playback times as the more expensive iPhone 12.
