Hyderabad: Mayor B Rammohan accompanied by GHMC officials and local leaders visited flood-affected areas in Chandanagar, Ramakrishna Nagar and Madinaguda and said all required sanitation efforts were being taken to prevent viral diseases. He said that almost 70 per cent of garbage, material and mud clogged in the nalas have been cleared.
On the directions of MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao, repair works were being carried out at roads and naalas damaged due to rains, and storm water accumulated in apartment cellars in colonies was being pumped out, the Mayor said.
To prevent floods in low lying areas, efforts were made to improve drainage and naala system in 90 per cent of colonies, he said adding that due to bottlenecks in some parts, there has been difficulty for the free flow of water and this resulted in stagnation at houses and cellars.
