JALANDHAR: The BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha will take out a ‘Dalit Insaaf Yatra’ on Thursday from here to Chandigarh, where it plans to gherao Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s residence in protest against the “increased atrocities on Dalits in the state”.
The biggest issue is the postmatric scholarship scam, former Union minister Vijay Sampla, who announced the march, has said. As the Bharti Kisan Union (Qadian) gatecrashed his Circuit House press conference to oppose him, Sampla said the farm union’s demonstration was back by the government’s machinery. “Who else could have tipped them off about my press conference. It’s all at the behest of the ruling party,” he said, accusing the local officials of cancelling his booking.
Confronted, Jalandhar’s additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Jasbir Singh his office did not order any cancellation, as there was no booking of the Circuit House venue in the first place.
