An NDPS special judge, who is hearing in a narcotics case involving film personalities in Karnataka, received a parcel with a threatening letter and detonator on Monday in which he was granted bail by two film actresses and some accused in the violence case on August 11 Demand has been given.
"We have started the investigation," a senior police officer told PTI on condition of anonymity.
According to top sources in the police, a parcel sent from Tumkuru district headquarters and a letter addressed to the special judge hearing the drug case was found outside the court. In this case, the names of some prominent people, including film actress Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjana Galrani, have come as accused.
Sources said that when the court personnel opened the letter, they saw the suspicious object and informed the police. The police bomb disposal squad confirmed that it had a detonator.
Significantly, a large racket of drug consumption and its supply has been revealed in Karnataka. Earlier on Monday, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence recently seized 13.2 kg of drugs from Kempegowda International Airport, costing more than Rs 13 crore in the international market.
According to DRI Bangalore, the drugs were sent to Kempegowda International Airport through a courier hiding drugs in photo frames, photo albums, bangles, and other items of personal use.
The directorate stated that the parcel was to go from Chennai to Australia. It had also reached Singapore, but upon receiving some information it was recalled. During the investigation, it was revealed that the drug was hidden in the photo album and photo frame. The Directorate stated that this drug is used in the manufacture of narcotics such as methamphetamine.
