CHENNAI: DMK Lok Sabha member and the party women’s wing head Kanimozhi on Tuesday demanded stern action against a Twitter user who threatened to abuse actor Vijay Sethupathi’s minor daughter. She termed the threat as “barbaric” and “extremely dangerous.”
The online threat and abuse was in connection with the actor having agreed to depict Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan’s role in a biopic titled “800.” Vijay Sethupathi has already disengaged himself from the film, after Muralitharan requested him to withdraw keeping the actor’s long-term career prospects.
“The perverse intimidation of Vijay Sethupathi’s #daughter is not only barbaric, but extremely dangerous to the very fabric of our society. Making women and children the soft targets is a cowardly act. Police should take stern action against the perpetrator,” Kanimozhi tweeted.
