Senapati, who performed on the song “Ghungroo” from Roshan-starrer “War”, said, “Sunday was the last day of my weekly shift at the Covid ward and my colleagues had already told me that I must dance. Dance has been my hobby since my school days and I just wanted to keep the morale up. I didn’t expect my dance video to go viral like this,” Arup told TOI.
Ahmad, sharing the video, had tweeted, “Meet my #COVID duty colleague Dr Arup Senapati an ENT surgeon at Silchar medical college Assam. Dancing in front of COVID patients to make them feel happy. #COVID19 #Assam.”
Responding to Ahmad’s tweet, Hrithik, who shared the video on his Twitter page, wrote, “Tell Dr Arup I’m gonna learn his steps and dance as good as him someday in Assam. Terrific spirit.”
“After the video went viral, my phone is ringing continuously as my family members, friends and the media are continuously inquiring about it. I am very overwhelmed by the response. It feels good as Assam’s name has been highlighted for me,” said the doctor who hails from Guwahati.
Overwhelmed by the response from Hrithik, Dr Senapati said, “Hrithik has been my inspiration since school days when ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hain’ was released. His song ‘Ek Pal Ka Jina’ is my favourite as well.”
The doctor said he learnt how to dance on his own during his school days and also participated in various competitions during his graduation at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. One Pankaj Saraf tweeted, “ Hats off to the talented dancer and the Corona Warrior!!!!”
