Northern Railway restores Shimla Express Spl on World Heritage Kalka Shimla line

Shimla, Oct 20 (UNI) Almost seven months of suspension of all railway services in the hill state, the Northern Railways announced on Tuesday that it will restore seven bogies of the Shimla Express Special on the World Heritage Kalka Shimla railway line.

Northern Railway official (STM/TT) Kavita Agarwal told UNI that the Kalka-Shimla Express Special train No 04515/04516 would resume operation after a gap of seven months on Wednesday, as the seven-coach train would depart from Kalka railway station at 1210 hrs and arrive at 1720 hrs at Shimla Railway Station on the same day.

She said the Railway Board decided on October 17 to resume the service, keeping in mind the upcoming festive season.

On October 21, the same train would depart from Shimla at 1040 hrs and arrive at Kalka at 1610 hrs. The Kalka-Shimla Express Special will be conducting 41 each to and fro trips between October 21 to 30 on Kalka- Shimla station and between October 22 to November 1 on Shimla-Kalka station, respectively.

'Following the COVID protocol, all the coaches will undergo sanitisation and maintenance work of the track, before it will be thrown open for the passengers,' added Ms Agarwal.

She said the Kalka-Shimla railway track has been declared a 'World Heritage Route' on the completion of its 107th anniversary on November 9, 2008. The services on this route were started on November 9, 1903.

The track falls under the Northern Railway Ambala division of the Northern Railway and is 96 km long and has 18 stations on the route.

There are more than 880 bridges, as well as over 100 tunnels on this route, added Ms Agarwal.

This cancer institute, established in Lucknow, is built on the lines of the famous Tata Memorial Center in Mumbai in collaboration with the Tata Trusts. This is aimed to provide the treatment to the patients with all the modern facilities in Lucknow.
On Tuesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the surgical oncology, radiation oncology and indoor patient services of this new cancer institute which has come up at CG City, Sultanpur Road.

Indore, MP, Oct 20 (UNI) A case has been registered against Dinesh Bhavsar – a local leader of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party – for transgressions during a roadshow organised in Sanwer (Scheduled Castes) Assembly constituency that is among those witnessing a by-poll, law-enforcement authorities said.
The event was conducted on Monday and attended by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as well. Though permission was granted for five vehicles only, the actual number was higher, social distancing disregarded and masks not utilised.
