Vijayawada, Oct 20 (UNI) The schools in Andhra Pradesh will be reopened on November 2 and classes will be conducted on alternative day, an official release said on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at a review meeting here on Tuesday said that it had been decided to reopen the schools in the state on November 2 and classes would be conducted for the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th standard students one day and classes for the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th standard students will be held on the other days as a precautionary measure to prevent students from getting infected from corornavirus and also to prevent too many students from crowding at the same time.
The Chief Minister said that if the strength of students exceeds 750 at any school, classes would be conducted once in every three days. Moreover, the schools in the state would function only till afternoon. After serving the mid-day meal to the students, they would be sent home, he said.
After observing the situation during November, a decision will be taken on how classes will be conducted in the month of December based on the prevailing situation, he clarified. The Chief Minister told the officials concerned to conduct online classes, if the parents of the students are reluctant to send their children to schools.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to take steps to complete the renovation works in the schools by November 15. Mr Jagan Reddy said that works for renovation have not yet been started in 153 schools. Sites should be identified for the construction of buildings for 7,375 anganwadi centres. As many as 27,561 anganwadi centres are currently functioning in rented buildings, he said.
