EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

The domestic equity markets were trading firm on Monday, with the benchmark indices rising one per cent, on the back of gains in bank stocks.
Among headline indices, the S&P BSE Sensex gained over 400 points, or 1 per cent, to 40,419 levels and the Nifty50 index topped the 11,850-mark. HDFC Bank rose as much as 3 per cent after reporting a healthy set of September quarter result. Besides, ONGC (up 4%), ICICI Bank and HDFC (both up 2%) were the other top Sensex gainers. Reliance Industries also gained over 2 per cent.
Majority of the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green, led by Nifty Financial Service index, up 1.3 per cent
