Anant Mandi - Bhopal’s organic farmers market, reopened after a gap of six months for the public at Gandhi Bhawan on Sunday.
After a lot of precautions and revised safety measures, this was set up after the lockdown was lifted. This time, along with organic vegetables, pulses and rice, various other products were also available such as soaps, natural/cruelty-free cosmetics, cloth bags, dairies, masks, wooden toys, stationery and bakery products.
As the pandemic has devastatingly affected the local groups and businesses, this Anant mandi was therefore dedicated to help and promote more of the affected businesses. There were stalls from Muskan, Hunar Eka Bhopal, and Firoza Ji in the Mandi in which beautiful cloth bags, stationery, and masks made by women coming from poor communities from the city were available.
The Mandi is a collaborative initiative of Anant, GoRurban, Bharat Calling, and Gandhi Bhavan to promote healthy, local and seasonal food, and eco-friendly farming. This initiative is also an attempt to create an eco-conscious community in Bhopal.
