  • Two suspects are to appear in court in connection with the murder of Pofadder hotelier Leon Brits.
  • Brits had reportedly told his brother that some staff members were stealing from the hotel kitchen.
  • He was found stabbed to death at his home on 7 October.

Two people, who were arrested in connection with the murder of Pofadder hotelier Leon Brits, will appear in the Pofadder Magistrate's Court on Monday.

The two suspects are a 37-year-old, who was arrested in Piketberg in the Western Cape, and a 34-year-old apprehended in Kathu, as was confirmed by police spokesperson Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba in an earlier report.

Brits owned a hotel in the small town of Pofadder in the Northern Cape.

He was found stabbed to death at his home on Wednesday, 7 October.

Brits had reportedly told his brother - prior to his death - that some staff members were stealing from the hotel kitchen.

In addition, a family friend told Netwerk24 that it looked as though the Pofadder hotelier was strangled with a dog chain and dragged to the pool.

A team of authorities, including the Provincial Organised Crime, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) and Pofadder and Springbok detectives arrested the suspects.
