Telangana's Coronavirus infection number rises to over 2.23 lakh, 948 fresh cases reported

Hyderabad, Oct 19 (UNI) COVID-19 caseload has risen to 2,23,059 in Telangana with 948 fresh infections being recorded in the state till 2000 hours on Sunday.

With four fresh COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, the overall toll has risen to 1,275 constituting a case fatality rate of 0.57 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.5 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Monday.

As many as 1,896 patients had recovered from Coronavirus between Saturday and Sunday pushing the cumulative number of recoveries in the state to 2,00,686 with a recovery rate of 89.96 per cent while the National average was 88.2 per cent.

There were 21,098 active cases of the contagious virus in the state now and out of which 17,432 are in home or institutional isolation.

During the last 24 hours, 26,027 swab samples of persons were tested to detect the contagious virus and the reports of 1,050 swab samples were awaited.

The total number of COVID-19 tests carried out in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic stood at 38,56,530 till date.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) remained the top contributor of the positive cases by reporting 212 new virus cases in the last 24 hours, while the remaining positive cases were registered from other districts, the bulletin added.
