BHIWANDI: The Narpoli police have arrested six labourers for allegedly killing a thief for stealing their mobile phones.
The incident took place in the wee hours of Saturday while they were alseep in a businessman's office, which was under renovation. The police said that while the workers were sleeping, the deceased, Bharat Kanak Sai, entered the office located on the second floor of Parasnath complex in Bhiwandi with two aides. The men stole mobile phones that belonged to the labourers and tried to escape. The police said that the labourers caught hold of Sai and beat him up with plywood injuring him severely.
Sai was rushed to the IGM hospital where he died during treatment. Cops said that while labourers maintained that Sai jumped from the second floor in order to not get nabbed, Sai told them that he was beaten up by the workers before he succumbed to his injuries. The six workers were arrested on the basis of Sai's statement.
