PATNA: Independent MLA from Bochaha assembly seat Baby Kumari, who was in fray as an LJP candidate this time, on Sunday joined the BJP and announced that she will return the ticket to Chirag Paswan’s party and support the nominee of NDA partner
Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
BJP national general secretary Bhupender Yadav, in whose presence Baby joined the saffron party, reiterated that Chirag has taken a separate stand and the next NDA government will be formed under the leadership of CM
Nitish Kumar. Baby was in the BJP before she took the decision to contest the 2015
assembly elections from Bochaha as an Independent. She won the seat handsomely after being denied ticket by the BJP. In the House, she had her seat among the woman MLAs from the ruling NDA.
However, her decision to fight the 2020 election is mired in controversy, as she herself went public claiming that the BJP had agreed to give her the ticket. Now, as it has turned out, the BJP denied her the ticket.
“The BJP wanted to give the ticket to her this time, but under certain circumstances, the Bochaha seat went to the VIP under seat-sharing arrangement,” Yadav said.
Meanwhile, several Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) functionaries, including the party’s general secretary
Arun Kumar Kushwaha, joined the BJP on Sunday in the presence of the saffron party’s state president Dr Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal. Retired DSP and President’s Medal winner V K Singh also joined the BJP.
