Spanish midfielder Fran Gonzalez bids farewell to Mohun Bagan

Kolkata, Oct 18 (UNI) Spanish midfielder Fran Gonzalez on Sunday bade farewell to Mohun Bagan on a day when the Indian football giants were celebrating their 2019-2020 Hero I-League championship at a five-star hotel in the city.
The 31-year-old footballer was one of the instrumentals to earn Mohun Bagan their second I-League trophy in six years Gonzalez had scored 10 goals for Bagan in the last seasons under coach Kibu Vicuna.
Kibu already left for Kerala Blasters and now Fran as Mohun Bagan have merged with
ATK to play ISL for coming seasons and these two have not found in the list for seasons 20-21.
"It’s time to say good bye... You already know it’s not the way how I wanted to do it but honestly I just can say thanks!!" Gonzalez wrote on his Facebook.
" Thanks to Mohun Bagan AC to give me the chance to discover such an amazing city and country.
" Thanks to my teammates, coaching staff and every single worker who help me to perform as i did it.
"And of course, thanks to all the Mariners to make me feel at home. Since the very beginning I promised you the championship and today it’s yours.
"Definitely I would like you to remember me as a good human being. Just an humble warrior who fought on and off the pitch to make you feel proud of us. Sadly football became a business but our passion will last forever. I love you so much!️ "
The Mariners were today presented the Hero I League trophy at a programme in a city hotel by AIFF CEO Sunando Dhar.
