NEET aspirant commits suicide in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: Allegedly upset over not performing well in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), an 18-year old girl student from Jagraon died allegedly by hanging self from a ceiling fan on Sunday.
Parents of the deceased, who are teachers in boys and girls government schools, told cops that they had gone to market on Sunday and while leaving home their daughter was studying in her room on the first floor of house. They added that when they returned they called her on phone and asked her to come down but despite repeated calls she didn’t come.
Parents of deceased further told cops that when they went to room to check why their daughters was not taking calls, they were shocked to see her hanging with the ceiling fan in the room. They added that after cutting rope they rushed their daughter to hospital but she had died.
SHO city Jagraon police station Inspector Nidhan Singh said that as per parents she didn’t get expected rank in the NEET after which was mentally tense. He added that parents shared that their daughter had had fever before examination so she couldn’t perform well.
Police officials further said that the deceased was topper in 10th and 12th examinations. They added that parents shared with them that they had asked her not to feel depressed as she can appear in the examination next year as well.
